TCOM L.P. Gains IUID Compliance

TCOM L.P., a company specializing in tethered aerostats for surveillance and communications, needed to become IUID compliant to meet a U.S. Army contract requirement as a subcontractor to Raytheon. The challenge was to uniquely serialize and register roughly 300 embedded items in each aerostat while also preserving existing configuration and revision control processes. A2B Tracking provided its UC! Web™ data management and IUID registration software to help address these requirements.

A2B Tracking implemented a dedicated-server solution using UC! Web™ linked with BarTender® enterprise software, along with Microscan Verifiers and Zebra thermal transfer printers. The result was a custom labeling and tracking process that satisfied IUID and revision-level needs, improved visibility across the production environment, and opened the door to more real-time logistics and shop-floor information. While no hard numeric efficiency gains were reported, TCOM said the system made IUID compliance manageable and “is working great.”
