A A10 Networks Case Study
Excite Japan Co., Ltd., operator of popular portals like Excite and Beauty Navi and a high-volume smartphone app download service, faced rising traffic, growing risks from DDoS (notably SYN flood) attacks, and the need to bolster IPv6 support after IPv4 exhaustion. Because portal availability is core to its business, Excite sought a compact, high-performance load‑balancing and security solution that could handle surges without disrupting user experience.
Excite deployed multiple A10 AX3200-12 appliances in a redundant configuration, leveraging ACOS-powered 64‑bit hardware for up to 1.1 million L4 connections/sec, HTTP and L7 load balancing via aFleX, built‑in hardware DDoS protection, and IPv6 support. The result was stable, cost‑effective service delivery across the entire portal, enhanced SYN flood mitigation, simplified operations with standard CLI/GUI, no per‑feature licensing, and local A10 support to speed issue resolution as services continue to grow.
