NTT Plala Adopts A10 ADCs for Hikari-TV IPv6-Based Service with More Than Three Million Subscribers

NTT Plala’s Hikari‑TV, launched in 2008, is an IPv6‑based high‑resolution video distribution service that grew to 3.05 million subscribers. As the service expanded to support set‑top boxes, mobile devices and shopping features, NTT Plala needed a load balancer that delivered full IPv6 functionality (including SSL acceleration, source‑IP and cookie persistence), high performance and stability under heavy traffic—and preferred hardware ASIC processing and strong vendor support because early IPv6 products were immature.

NTT Plala selected A10 ADCs, whose ASIC‑based architecture, SSL acceleration and support for DSR/inline configurations met their requirements; A10’s CLI/GUI and responsive engineering helped resolve IPv6 issues during deployment. The result was fast, stable IPv6 traffic processing with redundant deployments, the ability to reuse existing ADC resources to launch new services quickly, lower equipment costs, and scalable support for mobile, shopping and database workloads.
