Leverages Layer 7 Scripting and DDoS Protection to Boost Performance

Game Flier, a leading online gaming provider in Taiwan with about 300 employees and 10,000–20,000 simultaneous portal connections, needed to ensure its web portal stayed responsive, available and scalable during heavy peak usage. Existing routers, firewalls and IDS/IPS appliances were in place, but traditional load balancers could not handle the gigabit-throughput traffic without creating unacceptable bottlenecks.

Game Flier deployed A10’s AX 2100 (AX Series), whose ACOS architecture is tuned for multi-core CPUs and whose aFleX scripting manipulates Layer‑7 traffic to eliminate peak-time bottlenecks; DDoS protection and HTTP inspection are planned next. Since deployment the AX Series has fronted the server farm to improve web server efficiency, scalability and peak performance, resulting in faster application delivery and a better online gaming experience for customers.
