Case Study: Leucom achieves IPv4 address preservation and seamless scaling with A10 Networks' Thunder CGN

A A10 Networks Case Study

Preview of the Leucom Case Study

ISP Leucom empowers and protects growing number of customers with A10 Thunder CGN

Leucom, a regional ISP serving about 18,000 internet customers in Eastern Switzerland, faced imminent IPv4 address exhaustion and ruled out buying expensive addresses or complex immediate migration to IPv6. The shortage threatened growth and required a scalable, cost-effective interim solution that would remain transparent to customers.

Leucom deployed A10 Thunder CGN with support from distributor Boll and reseller ngworx.ag after a fast proof-of-concept; within three months 3,000 customers were migrated via a gradual rollout (100–500/week), with most users unaffected and 100–200 customers sharing a public IP. The high‑performance CGN appliances improved provider-side security, use minimal CPU capacity, scale to thousands of users, and buy time for a planned IPv6 transition.
