Case Study: Buienradar achieves IPv6 readiness and surge-proof performance with A10 Networks ADCs

A A10 Networks Case Study

Preview of the Buienradar Case Study

Cloudy Skies Bring Heavy Traffic to Buienradar’s Weather Websites

Buienradar is a leading Dutch weather website serving real-time radar-based rainfall maps to millions of users—about 5 million unique visitors monthly, spiking to 15 million during severe weather. The company’s legacy load balancers were limited in throughput and deployed in Direct Server Return mode, which disabled advanced features and left DNS and web infrastructure exposed; Buienradar also needed Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) across two data centers and readiness for growing IPv6 traffic.

Buienradar deployed A10 Networks’ 64‑bit ADCs to provide IPv6 support (native and protocol translation), GSLB, and a DNS application firewall, with high throughput (10 Gbps) and routed‑mode operation. The result: improved network performance and response times, robust DNS and web security without a separate firewall, seamless handling of peak traffic, and on‑track IPv6 readiness for World IPv6 Day.
