Cable Net Suzuka Deploys A10’s CGN Solution to Optimize IPv4 Addressing for its High-Speed Internet Service and Ensure Application Transparency

Cable Net Suzuka Co., Ltd., a local cable TV, phone and Internet provider in Suzuka City, launched a high-speed optical-fiber service, CNS Hikari, but faced a shortage of IPv4 addresses and concerns that deploying Carrier-Grade NAT (CGN) could break certain customer applications. With many customer devices still IPv4-only, the company needed a way to preserve IPv4 resources without degrading service quality or application compatibility.

After evaluating options, CNS deployed A10 Networks’ CGN solution for its high aggregation efficiency, throughput and application-layer gateway (ALG) support. The solution enabled a cost-effective launch of CNS Hikari in November 2013, preserved IPv4 capacity while handling growing traffic, maintained high application transparency (including SIP and online games), and positioned the operator to scale and grow its subscriber base.
