The customer, Weißachtal-Kraftwerke eG, a regional energy supplier, faced the challenge of manually collecting daily electricity meter data from remote reference points, a process that was slow and often required unnecessary service trips due to outdated analog modem technology. They partnered with vendor A1 Digital to implement a modern, IP-based reading solution to ensure secure and reliable data transfer.

A1 Digital provided an IoT solution using their M2M SIM cards and the SIMplify management platform. This enabled secure data transfer via a VPN tunnel and utilized national roaming for excellent coverage in remote areas. The result was the ability to retrieve all metering data remotely in a fraction of a second, which drastically improved response times and eliminated the need for most service trips.
