UIEvolution’s ExperienceManager delivers in-room entertainment and shipwide digital signage for cruise lines, where reliability and compatibility are critical. The company needed an on-premises streaming solution that could play high-definition video and audio on demand, work with any passenger hardware (smart TVs, set-top boxes, personal devices), operate in lightly connected environments, and remain flexible as requirements evolved.

UIEvolution deployed Wowza Streaming Engine (with the built-in Transcoder) on two dedicated servers per ship for redundancy and load balancing, integrated it with their CMS, and used Wowza’s APIs to enable features like mandatory safety-video playback and remote interruptions. The result: scalable, device-agnostic, adaptive streaming that cut connection times, supported multicast audio, accelerated feature rollouts, and grew from a single-ship deployment in 2013 to service for more than 30,000 cabins by 2016, now expanding into hotels and retail.
