The University of Utah Simplifies Its Distance Learning System With Wowza

The University of Utah, the flagship institution in Salt Lake City serving more than 31,000 students across face-to-face, hybrid, and fully online courses, needed to expand its distance-learning offerings while simplifying lecture capture and streaming. The challenge was to give instructors an easy, user-friendly way to create and publish recorded and live lectures (including integrated media clips) and to ensure those media played reliably for students regardless of platform, player, or connection.

Deploying Wowza Media Server provided a cost-effective, flexible streaming platform with out-of-the-box functionality and simple instructor workflows. The result was consistent, cross-platform playback for students, reduced time-and-place constraints on learning, easier content publishing for faculty, and fewer support-center calls.
