Case Study: SpectraRep achieves rapid, secure live-streaming for emergency response with Wowza Video

A Wowza Video Case Study

Preview of the SpectraRep Case Study

SpectraRep - Customer Case Study

SpectraRep, a public-safety datacasting provider, faced the challenge of getting live, high-quality situational video to decision-makers during large, fast-moving incidents—examples include a major Houston flood and on-the-ground protests—while many field units lacked video capabilities and command posts often had no streaming infrastructure. Interoperability between agencies and the need to securely share real-time video, photos and data to the right recipients under constrained timelines made rapid, reliable communications difficult.

SpectraRep’s IncidentOne solution, built on Wowza Streaming Engine and the Wowza GoCoder mobile app, uses encrypted datacasting over public TV spectrum plus internet/LTE links to transmit targeted live streams to command centers and field units. The simple app-and-dashboard workflow enabled responders to start streams in under a minute and deliver video to laptops or meeting sites in minutes, improving situational awareness, cross-agency coordination and resource allocation while reducing costs and deployment time.
