Fandor Connects Independent Films With Their Fans Using Wowza Media Server

Fandor is an on‑demand service for independent and international films that launched in 2011 to connect filmmakers and audiences across multiple platforms. As the service grew, Fandor needed a cost‑effective, flexible cloud solution that preserved control of its infrastructure while delivering high‑quality video to many device types and enabling social sharing of film clips.

Fandor deployed Wowza Media Server on Amazon EC2, using adaptive bitrate streaming, broad device support (iOS, Android, Roku, smart TVs, consoles), and a plug‑in API to integrate existing systems.
