Blueforce Development Arming Response Teams With Mobile Streaming

Blueforce Development, founded in 2005 by Michael Helfrich, builds real-time information-sharing tools for military, law enforcement, and emergency responders. Faced with the need to deliver low-latency streaming bodycams that include stream analytics and cognitive services while keeping equipment simple and rapidly adaptable, the company set out to close the gap between frontline teams and commanders for faster, more informed decision-making.

Blueforce partnered with Wowza (using the GoCoder SDK, Wowza Streaming Engine, and a Wowza plugin for BlueforceTACTICAL) to deliver a mobile app bodycam that supports location sharing, sensor fusion, incident collaboration, and machine-learning services like facial and object recognition. The platform requires no extra hardware, achieves sub-2,000 ms latency (with 500 ms planned), speeds command response on the front line, and can be updated with new capabilities in days.
