R1 RCM, a technology‑driven healthcare revenue cycle company with more than 30,000 employees, set out to build a scalable, equitable recognition program that could connect teams across the U.S., India, the Philippines and other regions while reflecting the company’s core values of purpose, bold thinking and going beyond. R1 partnered with Workhuman to launch R1 Stars (Social Recognition) in 2021, adding Workday and Microsoft Teams integrations plus Workhuman’s AI‑powered Inclusion Advisor to drive accessibility, fairness and real‑time inclusive feedback. The program saw rapid companywide adoption, achieved 81% recipient reach in 2023, and delivered measurable retention benefits — four recognition moments a year cut turnover by 10%, and combined peer‑and‑manager recognition correlated with the lowest turnover (about 13% versus 35% with no recognition).
