Lockheed Martin Goes Green with WeatherTRAK Smart Water Management

Lockheed Martin, an aeronautics company with more than 500 acres of landscaped campuses in Sunnyvale and Palo Alto, faced a major water-waste problem from outdated irrigation timers. The inefficient system was overwatering landscapes by 30–300%, creating an estimated 126 million gallons of annual water waste, higher utility costs, and hidden damage risks. HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK smart water management solution was selected to replace the old controls.

HydroPoint implemented WeatherTRAK smart controllers and professional services to dynamically adjust irrigation based on changing weather conditions. The results included about 126 million gallons of water saved per year, an estimated $1 million in annual cost savings, and 600 man-hours saved annually, while also helping Lockheed Martin earn LEED water efficiency points for new construction.
