HydroPoint Smart Irrigation System Saves 2,628,000 Gallons of Water a Year at a Single Site

Gachina Landscape Management, working across numerous Bay Area sites for a global technology company, needed a better way to conserve water while keeping landscapes attractive. Because the campuses had mixed irrigation systems, mixed-use meters, and no flow sensors, the team had no clear visibility into landscape water usage or leaks. HydroPoint Data Systems’ WeatherTRAK smart irrigation technology was chosen to bring real-time monitoring and control to these sites.

HydroPoint Data Systems installed 120 WeatherTRAK Smart Irrigation Controllers along with 70 FlowHD units, 50 FlowLinks, and rain sensors, giving Gachina 24/7 diagnostics, leak alerts, and real-time flow data from a single dashboard. The system uncovered hidden leaks and breaks, including one leak of 5 gallons per minute that had likely gone undetected for years, equal to 2,628,000 gallons of water saved annually at a single site. Gachina also reported spending 80% of their time solving water issues rather than doing ad hoc site checks.
