Colorado’s Fort Carson Saves 50 Million Gallons of Water Annually with Help from Smart Irrigation

Fort Carson, a U.S. Army post near Colorado Springs, needed to cut water use by 20% overall and 30% during summer while preserving its large, scenic landscapes. Its outdated irrigation setup relied on “dumb” timers, mismatched controllers, and lacked centralized management and flow reporting, so it turned to HydroPoint Data Systems and its WeatherTRAK smart irrigation management solution.

HydroPoint Data Systems implemented WeatherTRAK cloud-based smart irrigation controllers and WeatherTRAK Central to provide real-time visibility, weather-based scheduling, and remote control across 165 controllers and multiple water meters. The result was immediate water conservation, with Fort Carson saving more than 50 million gallons annually, eliminating overwatering, improving operational efficiency, and earning the Secretary of the Army Award for Energy and Water Management.
