SMC Electric Supply Creates Seamless Workflows Between Disparate Data Silos with Informer Dashboards

SMC Electric Supply, a private, family-owned distributor headquartered in Springfield, MO with 14 locations across Missouri and Kansas and products from over 250 manufacturers, struggled with limited reporting and fragmented data across Progress/NextGen ERP, Tour de Force CRM, document management and other systems. Staff relied on native app reports, SQL or manual spreadsheets to reconcile invoices, orders and customer records, making it difficult to spot exceptions in real time and undermining confidence in CRM data.

After a short Informer trial and upgrade to Informer 5, SMC implemented real-time dashboards that combine data from disparate silos (initial production reports took under 8 man-hours). The solution enabled self-service reporting, daily exception Jobs comparing ERP and CRM totals, Live Excel exports and automated vendor reports. Outcomes include reduced IT dependency, fewer ERP licenses, granular security controls, streamlined AP and buyer workflows, improved order/inventory visibility and faster, data-driven customer and marketing decisions.
