Elgin Community College Empowers End Users by Expanding Self-Service Reporting with Entrinsik Informer

Elgin Community College (ECC) struggled with limited, technically‑complex reporting: before 2010 staff relied on Query Builder/Envision and a UniData colon prompt that only a couple of IT specialists and analysts could use. Users faced a single data source, tedious manual commands, security risks and a backlog of report requests that had to be funneled through IT.

ECC trialed and then licensed Entrinsik Informer, connecting multiple data sources after a 2013 SQL conversion. Informer proved intuitive and quick to learn, enabling about 60+ end users and HR to create 300+ production reports, schedule automated deliveries, and refresh Excel data—reducing IT involvement, improving data integrity with scheduled monitoring, and giving power users self‑service control over reporting.
