The Co-operative Group, a leading UK consumer cooperative, sought to expand its customer base and app membership beyond traditional advertising channels while maintaining low acquisition costs. They partnered with vendor Digital Turbine and their agency Dentsu to pursue this growth.
Digital Turbine implemented a two-part solution using their Preload and Offer Wall ad units. They preloaded the Co-op app directly onto new Samsung devices in the UK, ensuring seamless access. They also launched an Offer Wall campaign that rewarded users for installing the app and joining the loyalty program. The results included scaling to 20,000 preloads per week, a 26% conversion rate on preloads, a 46% reduction in cost per acquisition, and a 58% install rate from the Offer Wall campaign.
