Pacific Sushi & Grill in Brookings, Oregon, opened by former commercial fisherman Mike Horgan, serves hundreds daily across a hot kitchen, sushi-rolling station and bar/lounge. Early technology choices—an isolated POS and a slow mobile ordering system—created bottlenecks, crashes and long lines at a single register, forcing staff to re-enter orders and disrupting service during peak lunch and dinner periods.
Horgan implemented CAKE’s cloud-based POS with mobile OrderPads and printers at each station so orders print directly where needed and staff no longer re-enter tickets. The change sped service, improved table turns and gave Horgan real-time reporting on sales and inventory; CAKE’s implementation coincided with a 25% lift in overall revenue (with weekend and peak-hour gains as high as 46–50% in revenue and 30–60% increases in transactions), while staff regained focus on customers.
