Case Study: Norwegian Subsea accelerates helideck stabilization development with 99X embedded engineering

A 99X Case Study

Preview of the Norwegian Subsea Case Study

Norwegian Subsea enables helideck stabilization with 99X for 1,200+ motion reference units

The customer, Norwegian Subsea, a provider of high-performance motion sensing technologies, faced a significant challenge in developing a specialized sensor platform to stabilize offshore helidecks. The project required building a complex embedded software stack from the ground up, including system boot processes, porting a Linux OS to custom hardware, and integrating FPGA-based architecture. To overcome these hurdles, Norwegian Subsea partnered with vendor 99X for their embedded engineering expertise.

99X engineered the solution by building the complete embedded software foundations, which involved implementing a bootloader, adapting the Linux kernel for the custom hardware, and deeply integrating FPGA-based development. This required extensive work at the schematic level to align the operating system with the underlying electronics. As a result, Norwegian Subsea successfully accelerated the development of its helideck stabilization solution, establishing a reliable and scalable software foundation that is critical for safe helicopter operations in demanding offshore environments.
