Ogden City School District advances reading skills with 95 Percent Group’s One95 ecosystem, 3-level gains for a student

Ogden City School District, an inner-city district with a diverse and economically disadvantaged student population, faced a challenge after a state mandate to address low reading scores and improve how reading is taught. The district sought a solution to help all students learn to read more effectively and chose to implement several products from the One95 Literacy Ecosystem offered by 95 Percent Group Inc., including the Phonological Awareness Screener for Intervention (PASI), the Phonics Screener for Intervention (PSI), and the Phonics Lesson Library (PLL).

The solution from 95 Percent Group provided interconnected literacy products and an onsite coaching model. This allowed teachers to easily identify student skill gaps with the screeners and directly link them to specific lessons, reducing preparation time. While an immediate spike in scores wasn't reported, clear student progress was evident. The coaching increased teacher self-efficacy and led to specific student success stories, such as a third-grade student who advanced three levels in the Phonics Lesson Library. Teachers were enthusiastic about finally having a clear application for the science of reading theory they had studied.
