The Inn at Shearer Cottage, a historic family-owned inn on Martha's Vineyard, sought a rebrand to honor its legacy alongside a complete property renovation. The challenge was to create a new visual identity that captured the rich history of its founding family, whose story began in slavery. 7 Layer Studio was engaged to provide a comprehensive rebranding service.

7 Layer Studio developed a deeply resonant visual identity, illustration, and website design for The Inn at Shearer Cottage. The solution was guided by the family's history, incorporating elements like a font from an African American typeface designer and motifs traced from the founder's original letters. The work received an NJ AD Club Award of Excellence and honored the inn's status as a landmark featured in the Smithsonian.
