A 42Gears Case Study
Bandim Health Project, a health and demographic surveillance site in Guinea-Bissau tracking over 200,000 people, equipped field health workers with Android tablets that were meant to be offline but were being used for games and personal apps. This misuse caused battery drain, corrupted SD cards and posed data and network security risks, and administrators struggled to limit apps across devices — so Bandim Health Project turned to 42Gears and its SureLock kiosk solution.
42Gears implemented SureLock to lockdown the tablets, restrict access to device settings and show only authorized apps, with customizable UI and import/export lockdown settings for easy mass deployment. As a result, 42Gears’ SureLock made devices easier to manage, improved battery life and overall device health, secured field data from external threats, and increased staff productivity by confining users to work‑related applications.
