CARFAX partnered with 3Pillar Global to validate and design a new digital product intended to help police officers at car crash sites. The challenge was to create an intuitive solution that could work across different states, each with its own unique rules and regulations for collecting and reporting accident information. CARFAX was also unsure if there was a significant need for such a product in the first place.

Through its Product Validation offering, 3Pillar conducted user research with police officers which confirmed a strong need for the tool. The resulting solution, CARFAX eCrash, incorporated key insights like VIN and license scanning to drastically reduce manual data entry. 3Pillar also designed a state-agnostic, step-by-step data collection process. The final application cuts the time it takes to document an accident in half, significantly streamlining the post-accident experience.
