SBEE supports Benin’s first 50 MWp solar plant with 3E

SBEE, the Beninese electricity utility, faced the challenge of developing Benin's first utility-scale solar power plant, the DEFISSOL project. They required expert support to manage all phases of this pioneering project, from selecting contractors to ensuring construction quality and compliance with environmental standards. To meet this challenge, SBEE enlisted the owner's engineering services of vendor 3E, which led a consortium to provide comprehensive consulting.

The solution implemented by 3E involved providing end-to-end owner's engineering support, including procurement, engineering design verification, factory acceptance tests, and construction supervision. The results were a successfully constructed 50 MWp solar plant that is expected to generate 35 GWh of clean electricity annually for approximately 180,000 people. The project, which also created local jobs, was praised by the customer for 3E's professionalism in design review and contract negotiations.
