A 3D Systems Case Study
VMR GmbH & Co. KG, a prototype and short-run manufacturer in Mönchweiler, Germany, produces plastic and metal parts for automotive, aerospace and medical customers using a broad range of CNC, EDM, molding and 3D-printing equipment. The shop needed a flexible, error-free CAD/CAM workflow to handle daily varied jobs and high electrode volumes, having suffered data translation errors, rejected orders and expensive, non-specialized CAM tools with their previous software.
VMR implemented Cimatron’s integrated CAD/CAM, taking advantage of reliable data interfaces, view-only shop licenses and template-driven automation for electrode design. The result: a 70% reduction in electrode design and manufacturing time, automated generation of common geometries, production of ~10,000 electrodes per year (≈50/day) with machines at full capacity, elimination of import errors, faster onboarding (about eight days) and a clear increase in ROI.
