A 3D Systems Case Study
Oak View Tool Co., a small Indiana shop that specializes in high-performance cutting tools and stainless surgical instruments, faced a capacity and lead-time challenge as orthopedic OEMs supplied irregular blanks and long prototyping cycles. The shop needed to bring blank production in-house and efficiently program complex multi-task machines and grinders to meet tighter delivery windows and handle intricate grinding geometry.
Oak View invested in a Mazak Integrex multi-task machine and adopted GibbsCAM for programming. GibbsCAM’s solid modeling, single-post MTM support, and Cut Part Rendering let programmers create manufacturable blanks, verify grinding toolpaths, and post NC code reliably. The result: faster turnaround by finishing parts complete from the Integrex, higher throughput across grinders and mills, ongoing growth with additional shifts and equipment plans, and expanded medical business.
