The Manhattan Project Enabled Using 3D Systems On Demand Manufacturing Services and CJP 3D printing

Sparks, a Brand Experience company working with Vick Art Advisors, was commissioned to create a 24-foot abstract sculpture evoking Manhattan for a renovated NYC corporate space. The design demanded complex, oversized geometry in full CMYK color on a very tight schedule, making traditional CNC or hand fabrication impractical.

Sparks rebuilt over 90% of the CAD geometry, divided the model into 15"×15" segments, and produced 28 full‑color tiles using 3D Systems Quickparts’ ColorJet technology (ProJet 860) across facilities in France and Andover, MA. Quickparts managed production, logistics and a concealed mounting solution so the pieces could be prepped, shipped and installed on schedule—delivering a striking, on‑time installation that became one of the largest permanent 3D‑printed arrays.
