Case Study: Summit Safety accelerates product time-to-market with 3D Systems On Demand Manufacturing (Quickparts)

A 3D Systems Case Study

Preview of the Summit Safety Case Study

Summit Safety Inc. Reduces Product Time-to-Market with On Demand Manufacturing Services

Summit Safety Inc., maker of the Pathfinder™ PULSE™ firefighter tracking systems, developed the smaller, improved RIT Tracker to give firefighters faster, more reliable victim-location capability in dense smoke. With several new electronics and mechanical enhancements, shrinking product cycles, and the need for a large initial run without paying premium mold costs—and with plans to bring tooling in-house after the first run—Summit faced a tight timeline to get parts in hand without sacrificing quality.

They engaged 3D Systems On Demand Manufacturing (Quickparts), which provided rapid online quoting, design-for-manufacturing analysis, and a fast tool build. Quickparts delivered the required parts on schedule, supported design adjustments and the tooling-transfer plan, accelerated Summit’s time-to-market, and left the company confident it will use Quickparts for future molding needs.
