Span Tech Develops Innovative Conveyor Systems with MultiJet 3D Printing

Span Tech, founded in 1989, is a global leader in customizable modular conveyor systems for industries from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals. The company needed reliable, full-size prototypes to validate multi-component assemblies (snap-fits, sliding parts, metal bearings) before investing in expensive injection molds, but its previous 3D printing and machining methods were too slow, brittle, or costly for rapid iteration.

Span Tech adopted the 3D Systems ProJet MJP 2500 Plus with VisiJet Armor (M2G-CL) and VisiJet M2R-BK materials, printing true-to-CAD parts in full size, assembling and testing them in real systems, and iterating overnight via intuitive 3D Sprint software and largely hands-off post-processing. The result: faster design cycles, cost-efficient evaluation, validated tooling decisions that save thousands per mold, and greater innovation confidence across development.
