A 3D Systems Case Study
Solo Tool & Mold, a Windsor, Ontario toolmaker founded in 1984 that supplies high‑tolerance molds to medical, appliance and automotive customers, faced rising demand that exposed limits in its 2D, print‑based workflow. The old software was cumbersome, error‑prone and made it difficult to meet tight tolerances or provide the 3D model views customers increasingly requested.
By adopting Cimatron MoldDesign and integrated NC, Solo moved to a largely paperless, associative 3D workflow that instantly propagates design changes through electrodes, EDM paths and CNC programs and lets operators make on‑the‑spot modifications. The change reduced errors, sped up design-to-manufacture cycles, produced cleaner machine code, improved customer communication with 3D models and delivered dramatic productivity and time‑saving improvements.
