A 3D Systems Case Study
Rifton, founded after building its first special chair in 1977, is a leading maker of adaptive and rehabilitative equipment with sites in New York and Pennsylvania. To react faster to customer requests and standardize molds and parts, the company needed to bring part and mold design in-house, but its existing software couldn’t meet needs and reliance on EDM caused extra work and production delays.
Rifton implemented CimatronE (MoldDesign and NC) for CAD-CAM integration, automated mold splitting and milling templates, enabling in-house design and production with minimal machining changes. The result was streamlined, automated workflows, greater control over product development, a significant reduction in EDM use, and faster turnaround on new products and accessories.
