Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine supports all levels training with Simbionix simulators

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) is a 1,100‑student institution offering programs from biomedical sciences to Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Its on‑campus clinical education and simulation center — featuring an ER bay, standardized patient rooms, mannequins and a wide range of 3D Systems (Simbionix) simulators — faced the challenge of delivering hands‑on experience for learners at every level (medical students, interns, residents) across diverse specialties such as pulmonary, critical care, orthopedics and general surgery.

PCOM integrated a suite of Simbionix simulators into the curriculum from day one through graduation, added extended access hours, and uses self‑guided modules, VR and robotic simulations to let trainees practice independently with benchmarking and scoring. The result is safer, more efficient skills acquisition — improved depth perception and ambidexterity, mastery of procedures before operating on patients, and consistent progression of competence across specialties and training levels.
