A 3D Systems Case Study
Ashland University’s Dwight Schar College of Nursing needed a better way to teach complex pelvic anatomy and the pelvic exam in its Family Nurse Practitioner program. The simulation center trains DNP students, but standardized patients were difficult to schedule and faculty wanted hands‑on, realistic preparation before learners entered clinical settings.
After evaluating options they chose the Simbionix PELVIC Mentor from 3D Systems for its realistic feel, advanced graphics showing bones, musculature and normal/abnormal uteri and ovaries, and easy‑to‑use video tutorials. Faculty can monitor performance and assign targeted practice, giving students exposure to rare pathologies, improving exam readiness, boosting program recruitment, and producing graduates better prepared for licensure and clinical work.
