A 3D Systems Case Study
Pakulla is a three‑generation, family‑run manufacturer (founded in the late 1940s) in Bergisch‑Gladbach, Germany, with 26 employees producing rubber and plastic parts for automotive, medical, textile, electronics, food and other industries. The company’s challenge was designing and producing highly complex injection molds (including a difficult job for speaker diaphragms) while handling CAD/CAM transitions and varied client file formats without errors, all to improve competitiveness through time and cost savings.
In 2008 Pakulla implemented CimatronE, which delivered integrated CAD/CAM, reliable external data transfer, QuickSplit, electrode generation and built‑in parts catalogs; the system was installed and staff trained within two months. The result was smoother format conversion, greater CAM independence, fewer consultations between departments, reduced NC programming times, longer tool life and an estimated 30–35% reduction in production time, delivering notable cost and efficiency gains.
