Noveletti Mixes Art and Engineering with Geomagic Software

Noveletti, founded by Nanci Gasperi with designer Stephen Cascio, creates elegant magnetic soap holders in materials like bronze and stainless steel. After positive focus-group feedback and interest from a retail chain for Christmas test-marketing, the company faced tight time pressure and needed a faster, cost-effective way to produce detailed prototypes without losing Cascio’s artistic designs—traditional rubber-mold casting was too slow and expensive.

Noveletti partnered with Advanced Design Concepts to 3D-scan clay models and use Geomagic reverse-engineering software to clean, mirror and convert point-cloud data into precise NURBS models, then finished the designs in Pro/ENGINEER and produced SLA patterns for investment casting. The process delivered production-ready files within about 1.5 days (accurate to 0.001"), enabled timely casting of initial runs, led to encouraging holiday sales and an industry award, and reduced prototyping steps while preserving the designer’s vision.
