Node-Audio - Customer Case Study

Node‑Audio set out to reinvent hi‑fi with the HYLIXA: a compact, sculptural loudspeaker that delivers the performance of a large box speaker while being far smaller and more visually distinctive. Designers Ashley May and David Evans challenged conventional manufacturing constraints to achieve live-performance sound quality in an elegant, compact form.

They used 3D Systems’ selective laser sintering (SLS) and DuraForm® GF glass‑filled nylon to produce a single‑piece conical cabinet featuring a patent‑pending helical transmission line that spirals 1.6 meters inside, eliminating diffraction and improving bass and clarity. The material proved acoustically compatible and yields a machinable, paintable high‑quality finish; the result has earned industry recognition for its unique aesthetics and exceptional dynamic range.
