A 3D Systems Case Study
Nobis Technologies, founded by mechanical engineer Brian Gulliver, set out to replace inconvenient adhesive/Velcro toll-transponder mounts with the eToll Clip, a suction-cup windshield holder. The challenge was finding a partner who could quickly produce ABS prototypes for fit and function and then scale the design to cost-effective, mass-produced injection-molded parts.
3D Systems’ On Demand Manufacturing provided SLA and PJP ABS prototypes, engineering feedback (parting lines, ejector pins, gate location), and QuickTurn injection mold tooling, delivering initial samples and the first 2,500 parts in three colors on schedule. The result: the eToll Clip launched online at $5.99, compatible with multiple regional transponders, with development time shortened by weeks and production successfully scaled.
