Neometrix "Hangs Ten" with Geomagic Wrap 3D scan modeling software

Ocean Blue Woodworks, a small shop near Daytona Beach, set out to develop a seated “waveski” for people with disabilities but faced the time-consuming, labor-intensive limitations of traditional hand-carved surfboard production. To convert an existing board into a production-ready digital model without reproducing defects, owner John Kaprocki outsourced 3D scanning and reverse-engineering to NeoMetrix Technologies.

NeoMetrix used a metrology-grade Creaform MetraSCAN to capture three scan positions, exported STL segments into Geomagic Wrap to align, clean, establish symmetry, and mirror the model, then delivered an IGES file for Catia. The entire scan-to-CAD workflow took a day, enabled machining of a precise mold and produced surfboards in about 12 minutes—removing imperfections, speeding production, and enabling scalable manufacturing.
