A 3D Systems Case Study
Marland Mold Inc., a 60‑year‑old moldmaker in Pittsfield serving food & beverage, medical, personal care and industrial customers, needed a software upgrade that combined powerful functionality, ease of use, strong data‑transfer and responsive support. The company faced pressure to compete with overseas shops by delivering complex, small thin‑walled caps and long‑life, tight‑tolerance molds quickly, and to reliably import and repair diverse customer data formats while minimizing downtime.
Marland selected CimatronE (NC, 5‑Axis), which delivered precise, durable molds and significant cost and time savings. The 5‑Axis workflow eliminated multiple electrodes, improved cooling and cycle times, and—via simulation—enabled unattended machining; reusable toolpaths and post‑processing let three different CNCs run from the same solid model, and powerful import tools simplified data transfer and design repair.
