Case Study: Trimetric GmbH preserves and modernizes Feurich piano craftsmanship with 3D Systems' Geomagic Design X

A 3D Systems Case Study

Making Beautiful Music with Geomagic Design X

Feurich, one of the world’s oldest piano makers, wanted to create a new family of instruments that preserved the acoustic character and handcrafted forms of its 19th‑century masters. To do this while adopting modern production methods, Feurich hired Trimetric GmbH to capture the complex, hand‑formed geometry of original parts and translate those artisanal shapes into precise, editable digital models—without losing the "soul" of the originals.

Trimetric used 3D Systems’ Geomagic Design X to high‑accuracy 3D scan the components and build parametric CAD models in the context of the scan data; the software’s Accuracy Analyzer ensured the CAD matched the scans and allowed export to native editable CAD with full feature history. The outcome was production‑ready models that faithfully preserve original shapes and acoustics, simplify downstream editing and manufacturing, and leave the owner confident his craftsmanship will be preserved for future generations.
