A 3D Systems Case Study
KU Leuven, a world-leading additive manufacturing research center with nearly 30 years of experience and one of the largest contributors to the field, needed to establish facilities that would sustain leadership in metal AM research and education. The institute sought integrated tools to broaden materials, link process conditions to mechanical properties, optimize machine and process design, and improve quality control for research and teaching.
In partnership with 3D Systems, KU Leuven adopted 3DXpert all‑in‑one AM software and the ProX DMP 320 metal printer, giving researchers end‑to‑end control from CAD through post‑processing. The integrated solution produced highly accurate, repeatable parts and enabled detailed parameter studies, hybrid additive‑subtractive experiments, and custom lattice scaffold designs, while simplifying workflows for both research and education.
