3D Systems quickly mobilized to help address ventilator shortages in overwhelmed ICU units during the COVID‑19 crisis, partnering with Isinnova and Decathlon to repurpose the Decathlon Easybreath snorkeling mask as an emergency ventilator interface for patients with severe respiratory distress.

Using Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and biocompatible Nylon (DuraForm PA/DuraForm ProX PA), 3D Systems produced Isinnova’s Charlotte and Dave valves, applied sealant for air/liquid tightness, and delivered printed, cleaned and packed parts within two days—achieving a build rate of one valve every 16 minutes (100 valves in 27 hours)—and boxed masks, valves and instructions for rapid hospital assembly while refocusing their On Demand Italy facility to support hospitals across Europe.
