Impres Rises Above the Competition with Cimatron

Impres Engineering Service, a Holland, Michigan machine shop founded by Ross Hoek, stands out for its wide-ranging prototyping and low-volume production work across industries from marine to automotive and medical. Rapid growth—recently moving into a 36,000 sq. ft. facility—and a customer expectation of ultra-fast turnarounds (quotes in 1–2 hours, deliveries in 2–3 days) forced the shop to find better tools to handle complex parts, deep fiberglass lay-ups, and large master models for customers such as Lund and other national brands.

Impres standardized on Cimatron for design and manufacturing and added a 5-axis machine running CimatronE 5-Axis, cutting setups (in some cases from nine to two), improving accuracy on complex shapes, and enabling single-setup machining of much larger parts. The result: faster, cheaper production, expanded capabilities into marine master models and race-truck parts, stronger national positioning against overseas competition, and continued growth driven by quality and speed.
