iKix, Architectural Modeler in India Introduces 3D Printing as Project Management Tool

iKix, founded by R. "Partha" Parthasarathy and based in Chennai, is India’s first architectural 3D printing service bureau serving top architects and builders worldwide. Faced with long lead times, fragile handcrafted models and frequent misinterpretation of 2D plans that cause costly delays and rework, iKix set out to speed time-to-market and improve communication across stakeholders.

iKix adopted full-color 3D printing (Projet CJP) to produce accurate, modular models quickly and in multiple copies—turning a process that once took months into days or weeks (for example, a 1,000-acre community in six weeks versus five months by hand). The result: clearer stakeholder communication, easier on-the-fly design changes, repeat clients, improved permit and construction planning, and project-management savings quoted at roughly 3–8% through avoided errors and faster decision-making.
