A 3D Systems Case Study
Hasbro used Geomagic Freeform while developing the Jurassic Park Junior Triceratops to balance traditional sculptural quality with the practical demands of engineering, manufacturing and packaging. The challenge was to preserve the craftsmanship of hand-sculpted toys while enabling rapid design iteration, ensuring part manufacturability and streamlining collaboration between design, engineering and marketing.
By moving sculpting into Freeform, Hasbro gained risk-free iteration, integrated CAD data from engineering, draft-angle analysis, easy part scaling for material shrinkage and simpler breakup of articulated pieces. The digital workflow preserved model quality, sped collaboration, produced reusable assets for future projects and led Hasbro to apply Freeform to two more toys in the line (Stegosaurus and Iguanodon).
