HARTING Improves Tool Quality, Reduces Scrap, and Delivers Molds Faster with Cimatron

HARTING Applied Technologies, a 49-person specialist toolmaker within the HARTING Technology Group in Espelkamp, Germany, faced production reliability issues and long lead times caused by poor data integration between separate CAD and CAM systems. Data-transfer errors between design and manufacturing steps led to scrap, prolonged EDM problems, and difficulty meeting the high quality and delivery expectations of internal customers.

By adopting 3D Systems’ Cimatron integrated CAD/CAM (including QuickElectrode) in a phased rollout with tailored training, HARTING achieved end-to-end data and process integration across mold design, electrode generation, NC programming, and shop-floor operations. The switch cut lead times, eliminated transfer errors and much of the scrap, improved NC programming and tool life, supported near-paperless workflows, and helped earn industry awards for automated, high-precision mold-making.
