A 3D Systems Case Study
Weatherford Oil Country Manufacturing (formerly Oil Country Manufacturing), part of Weatherford International, faced rapidly rising production that strained its CNC programmers. The shop also needed to work with part geometry coming from Pro/Engineer while their existing CAD standard was Ashlar Vellum Graphite, creating translation headaches and lengthy multi-operation machining processes that required better visualization and collision checking.
They chose GibbsCAM solids machining for flawless Pro/E import, machine and toolpath simulation, and solid-model visualization, so programmers could machine directly from solids and verify motion and tooling. The result: programming time fell about 70%, setup time dropped 33% and cycle time declined 52%, replacing multiple conventional operations with fewer CNC runs and improving accuracy, safety and shop-floor confidence.
